Sweet Sunday

We had a super nice day. First a walk with friends at Öskjuhlíð, kids running up and down the hill and enjoying themselves with lots of other kids. Then bowling with Stefán, Askur and Breki after a Burger meal and then a quick coffee at Deco.

We ended up having some very nice salmon at Stefán's house along with Askur, Breki, Sissa, Kristján and Heiðar. Sandra loved playing with the rabbits and Eiríkur did not mind watching some Simpsons episodes :)

"Worldwide Friends"

We participated in a project yesterday with the kids English School that involves cleaning beaches with an organisation called Friends of the World. The day was nice and sunny - and extremely windy out by Bessastaðir, the presidental site.

We were first asigned groups and we were lucky enough to be all together in the same group. We then started the clean-up project by picking litter from the beach and our group made a sculpture of a horse with the litter we found! Then it was hard work for an hour and I was amazed to see Eiríkur and Sandra's enthuisasm. They are such hard working kids, struggling in the wind with big pieces of wood!

After this great effort we went to Breiðholt to enjoy a delicious meal at my parents house.

This weeks movie!

Sunday night was movie night, I went with Sissa to Regnboginn to see Perfect Stranger with the actress Halle Berry. Pretty good movie I must say and interesting twists and turns.

First day of summer!

We celebrated the first official day of summer here in Iceland on Thursday - and according to old tales the summer should be nice as we had frost in the night. If summer and winter freeze together the weatherforecast is good! Let's believe it for now :)

Eiríkur spent the night at his grandparents as a treat but Sandra and myself went for a really nice walk in Mosfellsdalur to visit the Waterfall of the Giants (Tröllafoss). The hike was planned by Ferðalangur á heimaslóð and was very popular. Dóra and Gummi were in the group and we enjoyed their company. The evening was spent at my parents house.

Yesterday was pancake day - kids ate until they were about to burst! In the evening I went for a two hour walk with friends and then Sissa came to Hringbraut to enjoy some nice fish baked in spicy mango chutney with me and Rebekka.

Another walk this morning and a swim afterwards. Party tonight... lets see if there will be reports from it tomorrow... or not!

Birthdays in April

Happy Birthday Anna! See you tonight!!

We have also celebrated Eiríkur's 12th birhtday this month - with 11 boys eating pizza and chocolate cake at Hringbraut last Friday. No cameras were allowed... He continued the party on Saturday with Steinþór, Kjartan and Ísak at the movies. Great weekend for Eiríkur who is growing very rapidly these days!

Other family members with birthdays in April - Aunt Kristín in Mexico, her beautiful grandaughter Avril in Garðabær, and now my children have a new baby cousin born April 16th in NZ, called Georgia Ann. April is a birthdaymonth :)

Easter

Great holiday even though the kids were not with me...

I went with some friends to Húsafell where we spent three days going for hikes, eating good food, hanging out in the jacuzzi and listening to Ramstein. Thanks guys for your good company :)

Easter Sunday was spent with my parents, nice lamb and even some chokolate for afters!

Busy weekend ahead... Eiríkur's 12th birthday tomorrow on Friday the 13th hehe and Sandra's first holy communion on Sunday!

Easter Vacation

Eiríkur's drama production last night in Borgarleikhúsið was extremely successful! A whole group of fans came just to see him, including his mother, grandmother, sister and his two little cousins!

Poor old "Teddy" got lost at Borgarleikhús but was found again this morning, what a relief.

Yesterday was spent in Vesturberg with amma and afi getting everything ready for the big moment. Thank you for all your help.

Today Anna's kids spent the afternoon with us, we went to McDonalds and visited the Grettisgata clan.

Now it is the Easter weekend coming up - lots of plans. More later :)

Happy Day!

So great to be invited to two parties this afternoon! Congratulation Sigga Björg and Hallgrímur on your confirmation day!

Sigga's partý was held at home in Kópavogur with beautiful decoration and lovely food! We are still so full - it was delicious. Nice to meet everyone for a great chat!

I also dropped by at Hallgrímur's confirmation party and enjoyed very much the band that played for the guests. It was in fact the "garage band" Hallgrímur plays with along with his 3 best friends who are also 13 and 14 years old. Well done boys!

Saturday in action!

We had an active day yesterday!

First thing in the morning we were at the English School (Móðurmálskóli) for an end of term gathering. Eiríkur worked really hard and explained his project to the guests. Now we all understand better how the "blind spot" works in our vision. Sandra showed us the letter she wrote to her friends in a little school in Dorset, England and we all enjoyed the snack on offer!

After lunch Sandra went to church, time for her first confession before her First Holy Communion in April. Big moment for a small person. Rebekka then joined her for the coffee afterwards.

I took the opportunity to walk on Esja and go for a quick swim and then we gathered at my parents house for a BBQ. I haven't seen the kids eat so much for ages :)

The kids then watched a bit of TV at grandparents house whilest I went accross to Hafnarfjörður til join a little party held there by some great friends. Eiríkur decided to spend the night in Breiðholt but I picked up my daughters late in the evening and everyone went to be feeling content and full!
