Some thoughts

Tonight we will start a 24 hour celebration of Sandra's 9th birthday!!! I feel so lucky to have these three children of mine, I am both happy and blessed :)

As I making the food and cakes for tonight I cannot help thinking of our little friend Emma Katrín who did not live to celebrate her much longed for 9th birthday this summer. We will miss her more than ever tonight. Here is a picture from Sandra's 7th birthday with kids waiting for their cakes!

Sandra, Axel, Silja, Emma, Þórdís and Mikki - all dressed up and looking their best!

Monday, Monday....

I do like Mondays - a fresh new week :)

Sunday was spent painting at Emma and Albert's house and then a lovely dinner with Dora and family. Hrefna and Reynir came as well which was of course great.

Today was spent teaching and in the evening I went with Sissa to the movies. We saw Shoot Em Up - lots of shooting, blood but also with some humour.

Tomorrow is another day.

Botnssúlur

Pictures by Halli! THX :)

Nice long hike today with Stefán, Halli and Birta. We met at 9:00 in the morning and drove to Hvalfjörður. We then hiked from up to Miðsúla which is one of the Botnsúlur, around 1050 m high. Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad up there so we decided to return from the mountain when we had about 150 m left. But we will go again another time and then try our luck at Syðstasúla :)

Lots of outdoor activities this weekend - spent about two hours at Laugardalslaug last night and met soooo many people I know. Must make this my new stammtisch!

Weekend is coming up!

This week went past in a flash! We were all busy with school and work. I spent two days at Emma and Albert's house helping Emma redecorate Skafti's room. It is looking fabulous with a bright red wall :)

Sandra has started jazzballet along with her ballet classes and is very busy!

The weekend is looking good!

Eiríkur's schooltrip

Eiríkur's class is collecting money for a schooltrip to Reykir in November. First effort was made today when they brought all bottles and cans to school they have been collecting and these were sold for recycling. Sandra and I went a long to help them - 17 000 ISK is a good start!

End of the WeekEnd!

It is amazing how short the weekends are - I wish they were five days and the workdays only two!

Super enjoyable weekend, spent a lot of time with my kids, visited Emma and Albert, had dinner with my parents, watched the movie the Queen in great company last night :) and tonight I hosted a dinnerparty where everyone turned up to help out with the arrangements. Thanks everyone for making the weekend so nice, I feel very spoilt.

Work tomorrow with all the lovely kids at the International School, should be fun!

Jung Chan

What a great lecture at the Literary Festival today. Jung Chan was amazing in her description of her youth in China and about her findings when researching for her biography of Mao.

My goodness... Mao was an extremely brutal man, I have no words to describe it and I am not sure if I can read the book....

J.M. Coetzee

Yesterday I went to listen to a lecture by the literature Nobelprize winner J.M. Coetzee. The hall was crowded but standing there for a whole hour was really worth it. He is a very interesting lecturer!

Lára Guðbjörg and Theodór

Lovely day at Isólfskáli with Dóra, Gummi, their families and friends. The twins have now formally received their names - Lára Guðbjörg and Theodór. We staid a little longer than just for the party - enjoyed a nice BBQ with family and friends after the Christening party was over and then drove home late in the evening.

Busy weekend as always, I finally got to see the ending of Das Leben der Anderen on DVD on Friday night (went down well with the nice bottle of red wine from Mikki and Rakel!) and on Sunday night we saw Veðramót, the new Icelandic movie directed by Guðný Halldórsdóttir.

We also managed to squeese in a birhtday party at Berglind and Helgi's to celebrate Þórdís' 10th birthday and a lovely dinner at my parents!

And now a busy week ahead WOW!

Nice evenings :)

I am never home these days it seems :)

On Wednesday I went with Sigþrúður and Guðrún to see Astropia (paid by Actavis - thanks!!) and for a nice long walk with Margrét along Seltjarnarnes afterwards.

On Thursday I took the opportunity when Rebekka had a party at Hringbraut to go to Borgarleikhúsið to see a show called Laddi 6tugur. This guy is so much a part of the Icelandic heart and soul that one could not help laughing and singing the lyrics along him as silently as possible. Cafe Paris afterwards was nice :)

Rain and more rain

I was hoping for a long autumn with beautiful still and sunshiny days but instead we have daily downpours of rain! Not fun when I have promised to do outside recess duty everyday at school :)

Takk Sissa :)

My dearest Sissa came for a quick visit yesterday to give Eiríkur a real used African drum from Malawi! We all love it!!!! Takk !

More dinners!

Friday was dinner with Dóra, Gummi and their four beautiful kids! The twins are growing quickly and we can't wait for their babtism next weekend at Ísólfsskáli! Their names are still a secret!

Saturday was dinner (BBQ) with friends at Reykjanesbær to celebrate Ljósanótt :) Nice evening but a lot of traffic getting back.

Sunday was a dinner with my parents, Anna, Axel and the kids. Lovely and fun ending to the weekend.

More dinner dates coming up!
