Sunday

Kids had a lovely Sunday - Sandra played with Sólveig María and Ágústa, and Daníel Örn visted Eriríkur and slept over on Saturday night.

I went out on the bike in the morning and then Sandra and I went to the pool for a quick dip before dinner. In between times were spent studying!

More studying to be done this week...

Birthday Party

My mum's birthday was celebrated in style yesterday! The theme was Halloween and kids dressed up and had spider shaped cakes and cupcakes decorated with eyes... Sandra and Eiríkur had spent a long time on making her a nice birthdaypresent, a frame with their passport photos to hang on the fridge.

Earlier in the day both kids had gone to Englsih school while I did the week's shopping and went for a quick swim. Then Sandra went to church and we enjoyed a coffee with her teacher Margret Mueller and Father Juergen Jamin.

But the Halloween birthday party was definately the best part of the day! Happy Birthday Amma Sigrún!!!

A black four-legged visitor!

Guess who visted Birta tonight!

Her dad Berserkur (Bessi) all the way from Grundarfjörður.

His owner, Fríða, brought him over to Hringbraut just to say hello and the two dogs ran around the house like mad. Super fun to see them together - and Rebekka and I really wanted another dog...

Kids and the Dentist

Dentist appointment with the kids went well - no cavities! We will need to make a new appointment soon with Margrét Rósa the orthodontist.

Rewarded the kids by taking the costum hunting for the English School Halloween party! Eiríkur is planning to be Charlie Chaplin so we got him the bowler hat, walking stick and a fake moustache from Hókus Pókus. Sandra was happy with her rabbit ears and bunny tail from Ice in the Bucket. Black and white kids!

Tea with Tanya

Spent a nice afternoon with Gréta and Tanya at Garðastræti. All kids played happily together and we managed to chat a lot!

We sure enjoyed the refreshments Lárus :)

Tri-Athlon

No, not quite. But managed to bike for 45 min, then walk the dog for 30 min and ended up at the pool swimming several lapses. Three in a day :)

Will have another go today, lovely weather outside!

A big decision!

Got the flu shot in Lyfja, I hate shots and medication but I don't have time to get ill this winter... Sandra came with me and held my hand. My support system is really working!

Party at the Blue Lagoon!

Last night I went to a party at the Blue Lagoon. Tour guides and Travel Agents were offered the opportunity to meet at the Blue Lagoon, eat and drink - and swim together!

First there was a visit to the new research lab, very interesting to see how the water from the lagoon is being used for the products. We got a nice green drink there to cheer us up and then we went to the Lagoon itself for a party. I met a lot of interesting people and enjoyed myself very much. Nice food, good wine and the band Jaguar was great fun too.

Another sunshiny day!

Lovely cold and cripsy day with sunshine. I went out for a long bike ride around Seltjarnarnes and loved the view over the ocean and to the mountains.

School was good but the best part of the day was the late afternoon, spending some time with Eiríkur and Sandra. Their idea of a cozy afternoon was watching the telly together with mum. Thank God it was the Disney day and no Teletubbies! So we all enjoyed it!!

1970

Thinking back to the years in Búðardalur reminded me of this picture I found in Netla, an on-line magazine about education in Iceland. I still remember this green jumper with the huge collar!

Búðardalur

My friend Gunnur just sent me these great photos from my childhood home in Búðardalur where I lived in the years from 1965-1970. I can just picture Anna and myself playing happily with Gunnur's children Lovísa and Steini. Those were the days my frineds!

This is Búðardalur Metropole!

And our house - Ásgarður

Again view to Ásgarður! Lovísa and Steini lived at Borg nearby

Greek UrbS Party at Dóra's

Had a great time at Dora and Gummi's party. The theme was Greek - lovely food and we all enjoyed the "Zorba" music. We laughed the whole evening, silly jokes that cannot be repeated! Hrönn will host the next geographic UrbS party and I will take my turn in January. Now I need to think of a good theme :)

Update

A short update after all the events yesterday:

Rebekka had a lovely time at the dinner, party and the dance. Magni from RockStar was the main entertainer and did a great job. Poor lass was looking a little tired this morning but accepteed to look after Sandra until lunch time.

Sandra is a somewhat better, still some fever but it is clearly less than yesterday.

Eiríkur was great about waking up and going to school with everyone else being home in pyjamas. Well, I went to school soon after he left, so in fact only the two girls at home.

Plans for the afternoon: Walk the dog at some point, watch Ella Enchanted and Fun with Dick and Jane with the kids and then pack them off to Kópavogur. A weekend of studies coming up :) - well apart from the dinner party at Dora´s with the geographic US theme :)

Solidarity!

Achieved so many things today despite Sandra's sudden onset of fever and stomach flu. My brilliant kids all pulled the wagon today and even Eiríkur did his share of looking after the patient so I could viz off to school for an hour.

Now Rebekka is at the Annual School Ball - very dressy occation and she was looking really nice. I look forward to hearing all about it tomorrow!

Spent ALL day at school. Group work, research in the library, attended classes and now printing out some material.

Quiet Sunday

We spent the day at home, kids playing and I was studying. We all enjoyed the calmness of the day, no rush! Poor Rebekka was working so no peace for her!

Went to my parents for a lovely dinner, great to see everyone and have a nice chat.

Ended the evening having a glass of red wine at Margrét's house. We are in a parent committee together and she called the committee in for a quick meeting to plan the winter. Kids came with me for the first half hour and then went home to bed. Stayed on a little after the meeting to catch up with Margrét and we chatted until midnight. Always something to chat about :o)

This time a party for friends and family to celebrate Sandra's birthday. We had pizza and chocolate cake for the kids, homemade tomato soup, autumn pies and salat (and some Friday night beer) for the grown-ups. Nice to have everyone around the table, smiling and chatting.

Lovely to get the news of Tanya and Lárus's new baby - due in January!!! A new house and everything!!!Congratulations guys:o)

A big smile!

Kids are back at Hringbraut! Eiríkur went to his classmates Eyvindur's birthday party in the afternoon. Sandra and I spent some nice time together drawing and chatting for two hours.

We ended up having a quick coffee at the birthdayparty as we picked up Eiríkur, Eyvindur's mum (and dad) are friends of mine since highschool and it was nice to see Ása Björk again after all this time :)

Busy day again - more assignments due today, then off to school on to a parent association meeting at 4 in the afternoon and then on to Ellen Klara's house for a coffee.

School work

I am really enjoying school - but not so much doing homework when the sun is shining.

Two assignments due, one tonight the other one tomorrow. And guess what - the sun IS shining brightly and the skies are clear and blue...

Did some guiding yesterday - took 42 Americans to see Gullfoss and Geysir. They travelled here with the cruise ship "Star Princess", a huge ship - looked very much like a block of flats in Sundahöfn. We had a good day together but I was worn out by the end of it!

I will visit my aunt Anna Þrúður inn the afternoon to celebrate her 70th birthday! She gets younger every year!!
